Upcoming Gallery Schedule
This winter/spring will be a busy time for me, as I will be participating in four gallery shows—two of them solo exhibits. The events kick off in December with small works exhibits at the Art Spirit Gallery in Coeur d’Alene and the Tinman Gallery in North Spokane. Following that I will have a one-woman show at the Tinman in February, and finally a solo oil-paintings-only show at the Kress Gallery in Riverpark Square, downtown Spokane.
2009 Art Fair Awards
2009 was a good year for art festival awards. I received three total: the President’s Award at the Edmonds Arts Festival, a Benchmark Award from Art in the High Desert, and First Place in Drawing from the Sausalito Art Festival. Arguably the best part of art fair awards is the accompanying jury exemption for the following year. Thus, these three shows are already on my schedule for 2010.
Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour
It’s never too early to start planning… the 2nd Annual Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour will take place Saturday, September 26 at four studios along–you guessed it–the Little Spokane River. I will be a guest at Hulda Bridgeman’s beautiful garden again this year. Also hosting are Gina Freuen, Victoria Brace, and Jill and Sean Smith. More information is provided at the tour’s website, which will be updated as the show date nears. Gina promises good weather.
I finally signed up for Facebook last week, and added a public page for my art. The page is basically just an abbreviated version of my website, which links back here. But it’s fun seeing my icon show up like an ad occasionally as people sign up to be fans. Thanks, guys!
Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100
I have been awarded two honorable mentions in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 competition this year. I received the awards in two different categories, including a first-ever award for an abstract piece, Tapenade, shown here.
My second award came in the Still Life and Floral Category, for the pastel, Cardinal, below.
Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival
I received my second Best of Drawing award at the 2008 Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival, and will be returning to the festival in 2009
